Benniena deals with clients who are minors and pregnant mothers, especially when these face social difficulties, addictions, amongst others. The team deals with cases that are referred both from within the hospital and also from services outside the hospital.
Cases referred to the team from the hospital, usually derive from the Antenatal team, Parentcraft, Perinatal, and Paediatric wards, and sometimes even from others. This allows the social worker to carry out a holistic assessment and provide the necessary support and services according to the client's needs.
The service works with interdisciplinary collaboration for coordinated patient care, taking into consideration not only the patient and the family's views but also those of the hospital health professionals involved in the patient's care during the stay at MDH or during their antenatal or postnatal appointments.
