At Mount Carmel Hospital, some social workers are employed through the Health Department, and recently, some social workers have been employed through FSWS but are placed at Mount Carmel Hospital.
The social workers are assigned to a consultant, where they assess the case, mainly covering employment, housing, financial situation, and family dynamics, amongst others. The social worker carries out home and ward visits and maintains contact with various entities to support and guide the service user in the best possible way.
The social workers also work in a multi-disciplinary team with professionals, such as the OT and psychologist who are involved in the case of the respective service user.
