The main objective of the social work unit within the Active Ageing and Community Care (AACC) department is to ensure that senior citizens living in the community have the best quality of life possible. The unit also intervenes in cases of abuse or alleged abuse.
AACC receives referrals from all entities and through phone calls. The unit also follows up on elderly people who reside in residential settings and require the intervention of a social worker. Finally, the social work unit conducts home help assessments in the residences of the applicants who are interested in this service.
