BeSmart Online

The BeSmartOnline! is a co-funded project by the European Union. The consortium working on the project includes the Malta Communication Authority, the Foundation for Social Welfare Services through Aġenzija Appoġġ, the Office of the Commissioner for Children, and the Ministry for Education.

The BeSmartOnline! aims to raise awareness and educate minors (children and youths) on the safer use of the Internet, targeting minors themselves, carers, and professionals. Aġenzija Appoġġ is responsible for both the helpline and the hotline.

The hotline receives reports from internet users on illegal content such as child sexual abuse material. This also contributes to the European URL Database (set up by the International Organisations of Internet Hotlines-INHOPE) of sites generating illegal activity.
