Cases of adult victims of human trafficking are followed by two distinctive services. The Domestic Violence Services follow cases of trafficking for sexual exploitation. Where human trafficking for other purposes is concerned, the Malta Police Force generally informs the Ministry for the Family, Children's Rights and Social Solidarity about each case of human trafficking, which would potentially require social assistance.
This is done in line with the Memorandum of Understanding between the Malta Police Force and the Ministry for the Family, Children's Rights and Social Solidarity. In such cases, the Ministry provides social support through the professional social work interventions of professionals at Aġenzija Appoġġ, in which social workers interview, assess, counsel, and provide support to the potential victims.
