The Parenting when Separated Programme highlights practical steps that parents can take to help their children cope and thrive, as well as coping successfully themselves.
Parents are given skills, information, and support so they can work together to be able to parent their children together from different households. This requires the working through emotions of parents and the challenge of understanding the need for separated parenting issues from couple issues.
The programme is offered to groups of a maximum of 10 participants with parties being in separate groups that run concurrently. All groups are co-facilitated by trained professionals with experience in working with separated parents and their children. Eligible participants need to be undergoing mediation or are already separated or divorced, and ideally, present a medium level of conflict.
An initial meeting is held with every participant before the commencement of the group.
