Learning Support Centres
The “Hurt By Others, Healed Through Others” programme is designed specifically for students in Learning Support Centres (LSCs), which provide temporary educational support for learners with severe social, emotional, and behavioral challenges. These centres play a crucial role in offering alternative educational provisions, mentoring, and emotional development to facilitate reintegration into mainstream schooling. Recognising that many students in LSCs may already be experimenting with harmful behaviors, this programme is carried out in collaboration with KSM – Komunità Santa Marija. Through this initiative, residents currently undergoing rehabilitation at KSM engage with students, sharing their experiences and insights in an open and supportive environment. This peer-led approach helps students reflect on the consequences of substance use and risky behaviors while also providing them with guidance on emotional literacy, self-esteem, anger management, and social skills. By fostering meaningful discussions and real-life learning opportunities, the programme encourages students to make positive choices and seek healthier coping mechanisms for their challenges.
On behalf of St. Clare College Learning Support Centre Gzira, we would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to Sedqa for delivering such insightful, interactive and impactful sessions surrounding drugs use, its consequences and intervention. Listening firsthand to the lived experiences of individuals who struggled but conquered drugs in the past has made a lasting impression on our students, and we are confident that it will have a positive influence on our students’ perspectives moving forward.
