Appoġġ Health Social Work Services Within MDH
Social work services are provided within Mater Dei Hospital through Aġenzija Appoġġ. The service provides its services to inpatients of all ages encountering psychosocial difficulties. The service is provided to patients as well as their families, to provide the services required to help facilitate discharge from hospital. This is done through a holistic assessment, highlighting the social antecedents and consequences of illnesses and the need to deal with the larger picture along with the immediate concern. The social worker’s focus is on the patient’s physical, psychosocial, and environmental health needs.
