The Foundation for Social Welfare Services invites internal applications for the post of full-time Support Workers within Agenzija Appoġġ, specifically at Għabex Domestic violence emergency shelter.
The Role
Selected candidates shall form part of a team that provides support to victims of domestic violence who will be residing in the shelter for safety and protection against violence and abuse. Work at Ghabex shelter involves working with women victims of domestic violence and their children, and the selected candidate shall be expected to tailor interventions to the benefit of the service users. The support worker shall be expected to encourage service users to regain self-confidence and control in their lives through an attitude of empowerment and care. The support worker shall be expected to provide a supportive presence for service users and provide practical assistance to women and their children. Furthermore, Support Workers will also be required to undertake other day-to-day duties which are related to the overall running and upkeep of the residential setting.
The Full-Time opportunity will be based on a shift schedule which may include day and night shifts, as well as shifts during the weekend or public holidays.
The Persons
The individuals interested in this role shall be in possession of a formal accredited certificate at MQF Level 3 or higher in Social Care or a related field.
Candidates over twenty-one (21) years of age shall be given preference as the job entails working with adult women and their children. Additionally, candidates must be fluent in Maltese and English to be eligible for an interview. Qualifications and experience claimed must be supported by certificates and/or testimonials. Applicants in possession of a foreign qualification/s are to produce with their application, a recognition statement on comparability of qualifications issued by the Malta Qualification Recognition Information Centre (MQRIC). In addition, candidates are requested to submit an updated CV together with a recent police conduct, two (2) referees and a copy of their certificates.
