The Position

The Foundation for Social Welfare Services requires the service of Social Welfare Professionals for Aġenzija Sedqa on a full-time, definite contract basis of 3 years or till end of the project.

The Role

The Social Welfare Professional shall be expected to work in the Primary Prevention team of Aġenzija Sedqa, which works to teach life skills in the community to help the general public adopt healthy and positive behaviours.

As an integral aspect of the position, the professional will be expected to work at the primary, secondary, post-secondary and tertiary levels by preparing and delivering presentations and programmes, interventions and activities that promote positive lifestyles. The selected candidate will also assist with community events by supporting the team in establishing contacts and networking with organisations, preparing and delivering presentations to a wide range of groups, including children, youth and adults in a variety of settings from schools to youth centres. In both cases, the Social Welfare Professional will be expected to design and create the resources to achieve the outcomes planned for each strategy and to actively liaise with stakeholders to refer any issues that have arisen during the session to the relevant professional/service. It is also the responsibility of the post holder to look for feedback that can improve their contribution and the overall work of the team. Other duties include attending regular team meetings in accordance with agency procedures and ensuring that all administrative aspects of the work are observed and regularly updated. Social Welfare Professional duties and the implementation of programmes may be changed by their superiors according to work exigencies.

The Persons

Individuals interested in this position must hold a degree in Humanities (MQF level 6) or equivalent qualification.


The selected candidate may be required to work unconventional hours during the week and/or weekends as required.

Candidates must be fluent in Maltese and English to be called for an interview. The qualifications and experience stated must be supported by certificates and/or testimonials. Applicants who hold a foreign qualification must submit a Statement of Recognition of Comparability of Qualifications issued by the Malta Qualification Recognition Information Centre (MQRIC) together with their application. In addition, applicants are requested to submit a current CV together with a current police conduct, two (2) referees and a copy of their certificates.
