The Foundation for Social Welfare Services requires the services of a Full Time Care Worker to work within Sedqa’s Residential Services.
The Role
The Care Worker is required to work on a flexible schedule which extends on a 24-hour basis throughout the whole week (i.e. including morning, afternoon and night shifts). The Care worker shall assist the Leader to provide an effective rehabilitation service which responds to the needs of the persons with drug and/or alcohol related issues.
The Care Worker shall contribute to the implementation of the care plans of the service users. The role also involves conveying to the clients the rationale behind the therapeutic programme and to help them develop their potential and self-esteem. It is expected that the care worker supervises the residents, observes and assesses their behaviour and give feedback to the Leader and other staff members. As part of the duties, the care worker may also be expected to assist in the upkeep of the assigned residence. One will also be expected to report immediately to the Leader and other staff members any important matters concerning the clients or the programme and shall assist in the process of re-entry into society.
The Persons
Eligible candidates must have a formal accredited qualification at MQF Level 3 or higher in Social Care or a related field.
Eligible candidates must be able to communicate fluently in Maltese and English. Preference shall be given to individuals having experience in the drug rehabilitation field. Successful candidates shall attend an internal training on Mandatory Skills offered by the Foundation in relation to their work.
Candidates over twenty-one (21) years of age shall be given preference as the job entails that selected candidates need to work within the field of addictions. Additionally, candidates must be fluent in Maltese and English to be eligible for an interview. Qualifications and experience claimed must be supported by certificates and/or testimonials. Applicants in possession of a foreign qualification/s are to produce with their application, a recognition statement on comparability of qualifications issued by the Malta Qualification Recognition Information Centre (MQRIC).
