The Position

The Foundation for Social Welfare Services invites applications for the post of Full-time Psychologist within the Therapeutic Services, within Agency for Community and Therapeutic Services, preferably trained and experienced in working with children or in the addiction field.

The Role

Forming part of a team, the selected candidate shall provide psychological interventions accordingly to aid service users in reaching their full potential and improve their quality of life. As part of the work, the person shall perform the relevant assessments in accordance with the person’s competence, undertake individual and/or group sessions, perform staff supervision as required, attend case conferences and reviews and draw up the necessary reports, amongst other duties. The person shall also liaise with other professionals to sustain the bio-psychosocial assessments of the service users. Ideally, selected candidates should be trained to work with children but may be requested to provide their services in any sector as required by management in order to satisfy the exigencies of the FSWS adequately. The position is tied to the remuneration package as per FSWS Collective Agreement Grade 2. Terms and conditions as applicable in the Recruitment Policy No.16.

The Persons

Candidates must be in possession of any of the following qualifications:
MQF Level 7 qualification in Clinical or Counselling Psychology and hold a relevant warrant shall be considered for the position of Psychologist I. Those who are in the process of obtaining a warrant issued by the Malta Psychology Profession Board shall be considered for the position of Senior Practitioner.
Candidates who are in their final year of studies are also eligible to apply and will be considered for a lower grade, that of Practitioner. Furthermore, the selected candidates must be able to communicate both in Maltese and English to the benefit of the service user.
Qualifications and experience claimed must be supported by certificates and/or testimonials. Applicants in possession of a foreign qualification/s are to produce with their application, a recognition statement on comparability of qualifications issued by the Malta Qualification Recognition Information Centre (MQRIC). In addition candidates are requested to submit an updated CV including 2 referees’ contact details and a valid police conduct.
