The Position

The Foundation for Social Welfare Services invites applications for the post of full time Senior Practitioner I within the STOP! The Violence & Abuse Service at Agenzija Appogg.

The Role

The role of the Senior Practitioner I is a therapeutic position dedicated to providing essential therapeutic services to adults who are abusive in intimate partner relationships, and children & adolescents who are violent with their parents. As part of a multidisciplinary therapeutic team, the successful candidate will utilize their professional expertise to support service users in addressing complex personal and family-related challenges. This role involves delivering tailored therapeutic interventions designed to empower service users, helping them navigate emotional, psychological, and social difficulties that impact their well-being. Through structured individual and group therapeutic engagement, the Senior Practitioner will assist individuals in processing past experiences, developing coping strategies, and fostering resilience.
Additionally, the Senior Practitioner will collaborate closely with other professionals working with the service users, ensuring a holistic and well-coordinated approach to service provision. By formulating and implementing a well-structured action plan, they will work towards facilitating meaningful and lasting change, equipping service users with the tools needed for personal growth and an improved quality of life.

The Persons

The individuals applying for this post shall possess any of the following qualifications:
MQF Level 7 Qualification in Clinical or Counselling Psychology and hold a relevant warrant shall be considered for the position of Psychologist I. Those who are in the process of obtaining a warrant issued by the Malta Psychology Profession Board shall be considered for the position of Senior Practitioner.
Or
MQF Level 7 Qualification in Family and Systemic Therapy and hold a relevant warrant shall be considered for the position of Family Therapist. Those who are in the process of obtaining their warrant shall be considered for the position of Senior Practitioner.
Or
MQF Level 7 in the field of Psychotherapy and be in possession of a relevant warrant issued by the Psychotherapy Warranting Board to be considered for the position (Psychotherapist I). Those who are in the process of obtaining their warrant shall be considered for the position of Senior Practitioner.
Or
Candidates who are reading any of the above mentioned programme of studies and are in their final year of study are also eligible to apply and will be considered for a lower grade, that of Practitioner.

Candidates must be fluent in both Maltese and English to be eligible for an interview. Qualifications and experience claimed must be supported by certificates and/or testimonials. Applicants in possession of a foreign qualification/s are to produce with their application, a recognition statement on comparability of qualifications issued by the Malta Qualification Recognition Information Centre (MQRIC). In addition candidates are requested to submit an updated CV together with a recent police conduct, two (2) referees and a copy of their certificates by not later than Friday 28 of November, 2025 by the end of the working day (by 16.00).
