The Position

The Foundation for Social Welfare Services invites applications for the post of full-time Social Welfare Professionals to work with the Community Home Services within the Alternative Care Directorate.

The Role

Selected candidates shall carry out the actions set out in the client’s care plan which is aimed at supporting young people in need of therapeutic interventions. The role primarily involves the following tasks:

  • Ongoing collaboration with other professionals to support minors in developing skills that will enable them to live independently and integrate into the community.

  • Support and assist therapeutic and trauma-informed interventions with residents within the community homes.

  • Participating in case reviews.

  • Carrying out administrative tasks such as drawing up duty rosters, scheduling meetings and taking minutes.

  • Accompanying minors to appointments, when and as required.

  • Actively participate in the preparation and conducting of assessments and care plans for minors are in care.


The selected candidates must be able to work flexible office hours according to the needs of the service. Candidates will be required to work on-call duties due to the specific needs of the service.

The Persons

Applicants must be in possession of a Degree in Humanities (MQF level 6) or a related equivalent qualification.


Applicants must be fluent in Maltese and English to be called for interview. The qualifications and experience stated must be supported by certificates and/or testimonials. Applicants holding a foreign qualification must submit a Statement of Recognition of Comparability of Qualifications issued by the Malta Qualification Recognition Information Centre (MQRIC) together with their application. In addition, applicants are requested to submit a current CV together with a current police clearance certificate, two (2) references and a copy of their certificates.
