Melissa Gauci is a social worker and systemic psychotherapist by profession. She has extensive experience working in the Looked After Children Services, where she began as a social worker and progressed to the position of Service Manager. In addition, Melissa has worked in mental health services and with perpetrators of intimate partner violence, broadening her professional expertise to various areas of practice.
In 2020, Melissa was appointed Assistant Director within the Directorate for Alternative Care, contributing to its establishment under Chapter 602 of the Laws of Malta. Over the past six years, she has been directly involved in all services within the Directorate, including Looked After Children Services, Fostering and Adoption Services, Community Homes Services, and Youth Services.
Melissa also has extensive experience as a systemic couple and family therapist and is a clinical supervisor. She has furthered her studies in trauma and its effects, strengthening her clinical and supervisory practice.
