The Foundation for Social Welfare Services invites applications for full-time Social Welfare Professionals as part of the EU funded Project entitled ESF+.02.226 Second Chance.
This project aims to address first-time youth offenders and the risk of their progression into recurrent criminal behaviour. The project Second Chance aims to intervene early, offering these youths a transformative opportunity to redirect their paths towards positive societal contributions through a comprehensive, multi-disciplinary approach.
The Role
By combining elements such as education, vocational training, psychology, mentorship, and community engagement, the project aims at implementing a multi-disciplinary and holistic approach to provide a comprehensive support system that addresses the root causes of negative behaviours whilst fostering holistic development.
The selected person will be working at individual and group level to identify and/or outreach for individuals or group of individuals who are first time offenders or at risk of criminality whilst addressing their complex needs. Individualised support will be offered to first-time offenders who are willing to redirect their paths towards positive societal contributions. Thus, this role shall also entail supporting young people in getting into mainstream education and/or employment with the aim of living an adequate independent life. The selected candidate shall conduct a comprehensive assessment of these youth, develop a personalised intervention plan in consultation with the youth, and work according to such plan of action which may cover areas including personal development, skills development, social and other matters. The aim of this work is to bring structure and stability into the lives of young people who are at risk.
The candidate will be maintaining up to date case records and complying with administrative requirements as defined by the Agency’s policy and procedures. The Social Welfare Professional shall report to the Project Leader. The role shall be offered on a definite contract until end of September 2028 or for the duration of the project.
The Persons
Candidate must possess an MQF Level 6 qualification in Humanities or a related equivalent qualification.
Preference will be given to candidates who are fluent in both Maltese and English. Qualifications and experience claimed must be supported by certificates and/or testimonials. Applicants in possession of a foreign qualification/s are to produce with their application, a recognition statement on comparability of qualifications issued by the Malta Qualification Recognition Information Centre (MQRIC). In addition, candidates are requested to submit an updated CV including 2 referees’ contact details and a valid police conduct.
