The Foundation for Social Welfare Services invites applications for the role of Social Welfare Professionals with the Fostering Service within the Directorate of Alternative Care.
The Role
The aim of fostering is to provide minors with a safe environment and a nurturing home to grow, giving them the opportunity to develop their full potential. Social Welfare Professional shall work hand in hand with fostering social workers to support foster carers and minors in their care.
Foster parents are required to attend a pre-service training organised by the Fostering Service. A Home Study Report is prepared and presented to the Foster Care Board for evaluation. The Board shall evaluate the foster carers applications and approves or turns down applications.
A Social Welfare Professional will work as part of a team and will receive supervision. It is expected that the officer works on own initiative but under the guidance of the Agencies’ Management. This may include tasks related to training preparation, transportation, home visits, data collection and archiving. Crisis intervention is also part and parcel of the job requirements. The position is tied to the remuneration package as per FSWS Collective Agreement Grade 4. Terms and conditions as applicable in the Recruitment Policy No.16.
The Persons
Individuals interested in this role must possess a full qualification of MQF Level 6 Degree in Humanities.
Candidates must be fluent in Maltese and English to be eligible for an interview. Qualifications and experience claimed must be supported by certificates and/or testimonials. Applicants in possession of a foreign qualification/s are to produce with their application, a recognition statement on comparability of qualifications issued by the Malta Qualification Recognition Information Centre (MQRIC). In addition, candidates are requested to submit an updated CV together with a recent police conduct, two (2) referees and a copy of their certificates.
