The Foundation for Social Welfare Services invites applications for the role of Social Welfare Professionals with the Intake and Family Support Service within Aġenzija Appoġġ.
The Role
The Intake and Family Support Service provides timely support to individuals and families experiencing social, emotional and practical difficulties, with the aim of promoting wellbeing, strengthening family functioning and facilitating access to appropriate community resources.
The Social Welfare Professional shall work as part of a multidisciplinary team under the guidance of the Service Area Leader and Services Manager and will receive supervision. The role is intended to complement professional social work interventions by providing practical, organisational and family support that enhances service delivery and client engagement.
The successful candidate will be expected to; support social workers in the implementation of intervention plans with individuals and families. Accompany clients to appointments with relevant entities and agencies including, but not limited to, Housing Authority, Social Security, educational services, health services, employment services and other community organisations. Assist clients in accessing available community resources and support services. Support clients in completing documentation, applications and referrals where appropriate. Maintain regular contact with clients, encouraging engagement with agreed interventions and appointments. Participate in office, home visits where required together with social workers. Assist in the planning, coordination and delivery of psychoeducational groups and workshops. Prepare, maintain and update records, documentation and statistics as required. Undertake any other duties related to the service as directed by the Service Area Leader or Services Manager.
The Social Welfare Professional is expected to work on their own initiative whilst maintaining close collaboration with colleagues and operating under the guidance of the agency’s management. Crisis intervention is also part and parcel of the job requirements.
The Persons
Individuals interested in this role must possess a full qualification of MQF Level 6 Degree in Humanities.
Candidates must be fluent in Maltese and English to be eligible for an interview. Qualifications and experience claimed must be supported by certificates and/or testimonials. Applicants in possession of a foreign qualification/s are to produce with their application, a recognition statement on comparability of qualifications issued by the Malta Qualification Recognition Information Centre (MQRIC).
