The Position

​​​The Foundation for Social Welfare Services invites applications for full-time Youth Workers to work with the Directorate for Alternative Care within the Residential Homes. Without prejudice to the need that may arise, the selected candidate may be moved by the management to another service in accordance to the exigencies of the Foundation’s services.

The Role

​Selected candidates shall carry out interventions emanating from a prescribed treatment plan aimed at supporting young people. The role primarily entails:
  • Ongoing liaison with other professionals to support youths to be able to comport themselves in a proper manner.
  • Actively participate in staff meetings, case reviews, supervision and service planning
  • Carryout a variety of administrative duties such as the preparation of rosters and setting sessions and minute taking
  • Accompany youths for appointments such as medical visits, job interviews, etc.
  • Develop, and maintain structures and routine for youths in accordance with their treatment plan
  • Organise social activities and other activities designed to encourage a positive group atmosphere and fostering skills development
  • Assist young people to develop their interpersonal, emotional, living and employability skills which will help them to transition successfully into the community.
Selected candidates must be available to work either normal office hours or erratic shifts which include night shifts as well as shifts during the weekend and public holidays. Due to the particular needs of minors, candidates might be required to carry out on call duties.

The Person

​The individuals interested in this role shall be in possession of an MQF level 6 qualification in Youth and Community Studies. Applicants must ideally be fluent in Maltese and English to be eligible for an interview. Qualifications and experience claimed must be supported by certificates and/or testimonials​. Applicants in possession of a foreign qualification/s are to produce with their application, a recognition statement on comparability of qualifications issued by the Malta Qualification Recognition Information Centre (MQRIC). In addition, candidates are requested to submit an updated CV including 2 referees’ contact details and a valid police conduct.
