The Foundation for Social Welfare Services invites applications for the post of Full-Time and Part-Time Social Support Workers within the SAV’s.
The Social Support Worker may be expected to work irregular hours which may include work conducted on Saturdays and evenings depending on the service s/he is assigned.
The Social Support Worker shall support and assist social workers and other professionals and shall be assigned to particular services as needed. The responsibilities and duties assigned to Social Support Worker therefore varies according to the service and its exigencies. In general, the social support worker is expected to facilitate certain practical aspects outlined in the care plan.
The successful candidate shall offer ongoing practical support to the professionals by taking on particular parts of the plan which cannot be shouldered by the professional worker. Although the social support worker is expected to listen empathically to the needs of the service user, their role shall not be to provide therapeutic service. Primarily the social support worker is tasked with helping the clients travel safely, ensure that appointments are kept diligently, supervise particular sessions as well as offer coaching or training to clients in pertinent areas identified by the professional. The position is tied to the remuneration package as per FSWS Collective Agreement Grade 7 or Grade 4 respectively. Terms and conditions as applicable in the Recruitment Policy No.16.
The Social Support Worker shall report to the Leader of the Team or the Manager as the case maybe.
Individuals interested in this role must have a qualification or a related equivalent qualification in either one of the below:
An MQF level 4 Qualification related to social care. If selected the person shall be employed at FSWS level Grade 7 Social Support Worker
Or
An MQF level 6 degree in humanities. If selected the person shall be employed at FSWS level Grade 4 Social Welfare Professional – SAV’s
Eligible candidates must be at least twenty one (21) years of age and ideally fluent in Maltese and English. Qualifications and experience claimed must be supported by certificates and/or testimonials. Applicants in possession of a foreign qualification/s are to produce with their application, a recognition statement on comparability of qualifications issued by the Malta Qualification Recognition Information Centre (MQRIC). In addition, candidates are requested to submit an updated CV including 2 referees’ contact details and a valid police conduct.
